Experienced Veterinary Surgeon I Independent Small Animal Practice I East Devon I ER4713

A role built around you. A practice that backs you.
If you’re an experienced small animal vet looking for somewhere you can enjoy your work, practice good medicine and have a genuine say in how you work, this could be just the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. An independent, family-owned practice in East Devon with an ambitious, close-knit team of eight vets is looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon to join them in a role that can be shaped around the right person. Clinical freedom, flexibility and a team that has your back.
One of the real strengths of this role is the balance between working independently and knowing you have excellent colleagues around you. Open case discussion encouraged, sharing ideas and supporting one another. However vets are also trusted to use their own clinical judgement and manage their cases with confidence. The team includes CertAVP in Internal Medicine and a medicine diploma holder and European Specialist, alongside experienced vets and nurses with a wide range of clinical interests. You will have the time, facilities and support to work cases up properly, explore their clinical interests and make decisions in the best interests of their patients.
The practice has three sites that are full-service small animal practices, with surgical, dental, imaging and inpatient facilities. Equipment includes digital and dental radiography, ultrasound and in-house laboratory facilities, ECG, capnography and modern anaesthetic monitoring and laparoscopy.
The team also manage a range of advanced medical, orthopaedic and soft-tissue cases in-house, giving vets the opportunity to develop their skills and retain interesting cases within the practice.
A role shaped around you
Experienced vets don’t all want the same thing, so the clinic is deliberately keeping this role flexible.
You could be based primarily at one branch or enjoy working across more than one, depending on your preference and what works best for the team. Equally happy to discuss the clinical mix, whether your interests lie in medicine, surgery, imaging or providing excellent all-round general practice.
And if you’re looking for more responsibility, there’s also the opportunity to develop into a lead vet role at one of the branches.
• 20-minute consultations, giving you time to do the job properly.
• No out-of-hours, so your time away from work is your own.
• A 1-in-4 Saturday morning rota.
• Flexible working days and hours, with scope to discuss a pattern that suits you.
You’ll be an experienced small animal veterinary surgeon with sound clinical judgement, a thoughtful approach to case management and excellent interpersonal skills.
Just as importantly, you’ll value being part of a supportive team while enjoying the autonomy to practice in a way that feels right for you. Looking for someone who wants to put down roots, build relationships with clients and colleagues, and become a valued, long-term member of an independent practice with exciting plans for the future. On offer is a competitive salary, dependent on experience with generous benefits.
