Lead / Head Veterinary Surgeon I Full or Part time I No OOH I Essex I ER3479.45698
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a practice in Essex. This role would suit an ambitious vet looking to progress into a Lead or Head Veterinary Surgeon position within a modern, well-equipped practice with a friendly and supportive team. Full or part-time hours are available, with flexibility for the right candidate. The purpose-built practice is equipped with digital X-ray and dental X-ray, flexible endoscopes for bronchoscopy, gastroendoscopy and colonoscopy, access to a CT scanner and a comprehensive range of orthopaedic equipment, including facilities for TPLO, patella luxation and fracture repairs. The practice also offers laparoscopic spays, laser therapy and pet travel certification services, with a strong focus on modern anaesthesia and pain management. You will be joining an established team of 3 vets, a Clinical Director, 3 RVNs, 3 SVNs, a Practice Manager, Practice Director, Reception Manager and 4 Client Care Advisors. The Clinical Director has over 18 years of UK experience, postgraduate qualifications in small animal surgery and advanced small animal orthopaedics, and a passion for mentoring and supporting career development. The practice is also a proud VetGDP training practice, offering excellent opportunities for professional growth. Both the Clinical and Management Practice Directors are based on-site. The role is ideally full time, working 40–41 hours per week, although part-time hours and flexible working arrangements can be considered. Weekends are on a 1 in 4 rota, working Saturdays 09:00–18:00 and Sundays 10:30–16:30. Bank holidays are worked on a rota basis, with no out-of-hours requirements. An interest in internal medicine would be desirable, and the practice would welcome an experienced vet looking to take the next step in their career. Applicants should be RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeons with ideally a minimum of 3 years' UK small animal experience and confidence in routine surgical procedures. Excellent communication skills, a compassionate approach to patient care and a strong team ethos are essential. Certificate holders and those working towards further qualifications are encouraged to apply. On offer is a competitive salary of up to £70,000, dependent on experience, alongside a generous benefits package. Visa and sponsorship costs may also be supported for the right candidate.
