Equine Veterinary Surgeon (Maternity Cover) – Scottish Borders HF4736

Seeking an enthusiastic, experienced equine vet to join a busy 5-vet equine team on a 12 month basis in the Scottish Borders approximately 1 hour south of Edinburgh. Working within a large mixed-practice, the branch is part of the wider team within the Scottish Borders, East Lothian and North Northumberland. In the Equine team catering for all types of equids; including horses, donkeys and mules, out on the road and at the equine clinic, additionally the practice provides it’s own OOH cover, which is equine only. Experienced and friendly team of vets, most have been with the practice for 3 years plus.  There is varied experience and interest within the team; with one colleague having a keen interest in dentistry, two colleagues enrolled in a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice and an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Equine Internal Medicine. Varied first option caseload with the back up a referral centre one hour away. The working day is 8.30am to 6pm, 4.5 days with a 1 in 5 OOH rota. The ambulatory and clinic facilities comprise stabling, stocks, full GA facilities, trot-up, soft & hard lunge, modern equine diagnostic equipment including video endoscope, video gastroscope, battery operated digital radiography, HD oroscope, ultrasound and three motorised HDE/Dynamic dental kits.
